“If your heart was the inn in which Jesus was to be born, would there be any room?”

Good morning. Happy Monday. Xmas is getting closer.

(If you need a refresher of what advent is and why we’re doing this click here.)

Today our good friend, MLK jr., teaches us about peace.

MLK Jr.

Quote:

Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love Illuminates it.

When we stray from God, we are overcome by our evil behavior. MLK shows how hatred can consume us and our lives. This quote shows how we should be practicing love instead of hate. We get caught up in the hatred of our enemies and lose our focus on God. However, Jesus suffered for us and in doing so, he gave us a way to feel God’s love and peace again. Even in the face of hard times.

Devo:

Read Philippians 4:1–9

The apostle Paul writes his letter to the Philippians from prison. Like MLK jr. who faced imprisonment and persecution multiple times, Paul, too, knows hardship, but he also knows the peace of God.

This is because biblical peace, like hope, is based on a person not on circumstances. Paul calls followers to rejoice in God at all times, to pray, to give thanks, and to think on what is good and true. Paul shows how these habits can lead to experiencing the peace of God even in the midst of great difficulty.

  • Reach out to someone or pray about someone that you haven’t talked to in a while, whether it’s someone you’ve had a falling out with or just grew apart from, and see how they’re doing.
